Travelling Light

Travelling Light

Travelling Light (TL) is a project which promotes creativity in music and radio production amongst individuals who have been homeless.

The aim of TL is to engage vulnerable groups and individuals in activities that will aid their personal development by improving confidence, allowing personal expression, teaching new skills in IT and audio, and ultimately encouraging them to pursue further training or seek employment.

TL offers a range of activities.

  1. Outreach workshops - where workers take equipment to places where homeless people live or meet during the day time.
  2. Studio work - where service users can book sessions at one of our fixed studio bases.
  3. Radio shows - where service users can contribute to making a radio programme by scripting, presenting, interviewing, making jingles, editing, choosing music, etc.
  4. Accredited training in IT and audio production.
  5. Gigs - opportunities for musicians and poets to perform live.
  6. Representing and marketing artists.
  7. Opportunities for casual work and / or volunteering for service users - e.g. sound engineering or roady-ing to support our audio hire service, workshops or running gigs.
  8. Creative workshops at consultation and / or participation events, e.g. work with Bradford Speakout.
