Making a referral

About the Hostel

Assisi House is a 6-bedded hostel for men, aged 18-65, who have been homeless.

It provides 'medium term' support for residents for up to 2 years. The average length of stay is about 6 months.

The house is staffed 9am to 6pm Monday to Fridays and 9am and 12.30pm on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.

Residents are provided with food for breakfast and an evening meal, which they cook themselves.

Residents are allocated a key worker, who will work with them to produce a support plan to help them address their support needs. This includes appropriate long term housing.

One housing option is Clare House, which is a block of 4 'move-on' flats situated next door to Assisi House. This is managed and supported by Assisi House staff and provides 6 month tenancies to ex-hostel residents.

How to Make a Referral

The Project will take self referrals or via agencies. To make a referral, you should phone 01274 666274 and ask if there are any vacancies.

Please note:

Staff will only process referrals when there is a vacancy. Priority is always given to those who are roofless or are of no fixed abode.

The referral process

- Phone Assisi House and ask if there are any vacancies.

- If there are vacancies, staff will take some basic details over the phone and make a time to have a face-to-face interview.

- The interview will be with 2 members of staff at Assisi House and will take about 20 minutes. Interviews will be arranged to be as soon as possible.

- After the interview, staff will make a decision to accept or not accept. If there is a vacancy, this could mean that someone could move in immediately. If there is no vacancy, then someone who is accepted will go on to the waiting list. When a vacancy arises priority is always given to those on the waiting list who are of no fixed abode.
